Dry Needling

Dry needling is a method used to treat trigger points, hypersensitive, taught spots in the muscle that may have developed over time due to stress, incorrect posture, the body’s self- preservation response or not stretching properly after exercise. It was first used in Czechoslovakia in 1979.

A very fine needle is inserted into the trigger point to encourage the body to send signals, pain inhibitors and hormones to the area to promote self-healing. It also encourages blood flow back to the area which will help flush out any toxins that have built up in the area. Dry needling can also be used to de-sensitise over-active muscles which relaxes the muscles and helps them return to their natural state of rest.
