Clinical Pilates is a great treatment method as it focuses on isolating specific muscles and treating them specifically to correct any injury, dysfunction or deformity caused by illness, injury or posture. We use a device called a reformer which is a bed with a moving carriage, springs and straps that can be used in a variety of different combinations to tone, strengthen and tighten muscles. Our physiotherapists will create a tailor made exercise program using the reformer that targets the muscles that require training or strengthening based on each individual patient’s needs which will be assessed on a regular basis.
Once the physiotherapist is happy with his patient’s progress, he may alter the exercise program or prescribe exercises easily done at home with some equipment or at the gym. Clinical Pilates can address postural issues, re-train muscles into new behaviour and strengthen muscles affected by illness or injury.
